Rhiannon Sharp Counselling

Offering a safe space to support wellbeing and growth

Counselling for individuals in a safe, private setting

I’m Rhiannon (she/her), a qualified counsellor based in Bath, Somerset. I work with individuals nationwide (online via zoom) and offer in-person counselling in both Somerset and Wiltshire (including Bath and Corsham, near Chippenham).

I'm an NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society), accredited registrant, hold a BSc in Psychology and a Level 5 counselling qualification in psychotherapeutic counselling with specialist training in neuro-affirmative practice and working with grief. I work in a warm, positive and non-judgemental way to support wellbeing at a pace that works for you. I have lived and worked overseas for many years so have an appreciation of other cultures and ways of being. This means that I work inclusively, welcoming clients of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, neuro-types, body sizes and faiths.

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. Read on to learn more about how I work and how I may be able to support you.

The way I work

The way I work is guided by both gentle curiosity and self-compassion, helping people gain self-awareness and self-acceptance which can lead to greater self-esteem and a more authentic way of living.

I trained as an Integrative Counsellor, grounded in a person-centred approach. This means I can draw on a range of therapeutic frameworks and tailor the way we work together to your individual needs. Counselling can be short-term and goal-orientated or longer-term and more explorative, plus everything in between. I’ll be alongside you if this all feels overwhelming and we'll always work at a pace that meets you where you are now.

How I can support you

Finding a path through difficulties and challenges

I have experience of working with a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety and relationship problems at different stages in life. Life transitions including grief, redundancy, retirement, relationships ending, divorce, illness and the menopause can be particulary hard, bringing about feelings of loss of identity and fear about an uncertain future. In a fast moving world where we are expected to move on and get on, there can be little space to allow those feelings to be heard. For others living with the weight of responsibilty for others means that care for themselves is neglected, impacting both physical and mental health. Counselling can be a space for you, a place to finally feel supported and cared for.

Working with neurodivergent clients

I’m also trained as a neuro-affirmative counsellor (autism and ADHD), helping neurodivergent people navigate a world designed for the neurotypical. Many individuals can feel a sense of never quite fitting in, or that there is something wrong with them. This is not the case and we’ll work together to help you recognise your own strengths which can be deeply empowering.

For others, managing emotions or day-to-day living and planning can be particularly challenging. Coping with unexpected changes or changes in your support network (such as when leaving home or starting a new job) can be hard to adapt to.

If you are coming to terms with a diagnosis, would like support as you navigate this process, or wish to explore your difference and find tools for everyday living, please contact me. As a neuro-affirmative counsellor, the counselling process can look a little different. For example, this could be cameras off on a Zoom call or conducting sessions via text until you feel comfortable enough to meet online or in person.
